Drift

Experimental Video, 2008

Drift is a movement from an experimental video that incorporates abstract footage in an audiovisual interpretation of the primordial soup. Desaturated visual materials come together and separate in a dance that invokes a vision of life arising from inanimate matter, a sort of "chemical evolution." Generated audio heightens the effects, as viewers watch what might have been before human presence.

In this piece I was interested in using abstract footage of actual phenomena. While the imagery may share visual characteristics with imagery created by generative software programs, it is made entirely of video footage of various liquids interacting with light and other materials.

Role: concept, video and sound production, editing.
